York City will need to make an important decision on top goalscorer Jon Parkin going into this weekend’s visit to league leaders Harrogate Town.

Neighbours Harrogate have a 3G playing surface and the 35-year-old marksman was rested when the Minstermen tackled Harlow Town’s synthetic pitch in the FA Trophy last season.

However, he was to later complete the full duration on Sutton United’s similarly artificial surface in March, when City snatched a dramatically late 2-2 draw.

“We’re going to have to discuss things because, last season, my knee was feeling brilliant and, then, I played at Sutton and I’m still feeling it now to be honest,” Parkin admitted to The Press. “I don’t know what we’re going to do and I’ll sit down with the gaffer and speak about it.”

The visitors are currently unbeaten in four games and looking to close an eight-point gap on their North Yorkshire opponents.
