Hull City manager Steve Bruce hailed a “strong” York City side following the 2-0 victory at Bootham Crescent.

Second-half goals from Sone Aluko and Yannick Sagbo were all that eventually separated the two clubs and ensured the Premier League visitors remained unbeaten during pre-season.
“It was another physical contest against a strong York side, and as I’ve said before, this is what pre-season is all about – getting minutes under the players` belt,” Bruce told Hull’s official website. “We changed things around at half-time with a number of substitutions and that told in the second half. I thought Tom Ince looked sharp when he came on, as were the two lads up front.”
The Tigers were using the clash as part of their build-up to an historic European campaign against either FK Vojvodina from Serbia or Slovakian club FK AS Trenčín in the UEFA Europa League Third Qualifying Round.
“Next week will be a totally different kettle of fish in Europe and it will be difficult because they have played half a season,” he added. “I’ve got no doubts, it will be difficult for us but we’ll be ready.”
