Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth was expecting a tough challenge against York City this weekend.

The Minstermen will have five former Chairboys in their squad in Jason Mooney, Marvin McCoy, Anthony Straker, Dave Winfield and Lewis Montrose – and Ainsworth is expecting their latest opponents to once again be right up amongst the promotion challengers.
“We know they’ll be strong. They’re a really good side and what they did last year was exceptional,” he told the Bucks Free Press. “When we played them early in the year they were languishing around the bottom, similar to us, and I said it was a good point when we got that one. I wasn’t surprised to see they ended up in the play offs.
“Nigel Worthington’s a good manager so we’ll be up against a tough team. He’s very astute with his signings. They had a slow start last year but ended up in the play-offs,” Ainsworth added. “There’s no way I’ll be looking at York as one of the teams that’s going to be struggling in this league. They are going to be one of the teams at the top end, without a doubt.”
