Holders York City Ladies were playing in their eleventh final in thirteen years and already seven-time winners of the County Cup.
The Minsterbelles had previously overcome neighbours Pocklington 3-0 in their semi-final courtesy of Alice Turner’s second-half hat-trick.
Meanwhile, opponents Redcar Town were a couple of divisions lower but had earlier knocked out the higher-ranked Boro Rangers in the last four of the competition.
And it was Redcar with the early ascendancy and twice leading before Turner’s second of two replies on the stroke of half-time ensured it remained level at the break.
But the prolific Jess Round then proceeded to register her 40th goal of the season and eventually decide the issue by a 3-2 scoreline as the favourites this time missed out.
