There was disappointment for York City’s on loan midfielder Tom Platt as Harrogate Town eventually went out 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 extra-time draw against Hastings United in their FA Cup second round replay at the Pilot Field.

The visitors trailed to a 46th minute Lee Carey penalty until City’s nineteen-year-old midfielder Platt volleyed an equaliser from a last-minute corner delivered by former York defender David Merris.

But joy was to turn into heartache during the later penalty shoot-out when Platt, who was also on target in the first game between the two clubs twelve days ago, was one of two visiting players missing from the spot.

The lowest-ranked side still in the competition, Isthmian League Premier outfit Hastings now travel to Championship promotion-chasers Middlesbrough in the third round in the first week of January.
