York City boss Gary Mills believed his side hardly got what they deserved following their 2-1 home defeat to Exeter City.

“It’s hard on us not to get anything out of this game today” – Gary Mills

The Minstermen were reliant on Michael Potts cancelling out an Alex Rodman own-goal as they actually had the better of the opening half. On loan Aldershot Town striker Rodman had earlier agreed a deal to remain with the club for the remainder of the season.

But Exeter improved with the change of ends and eventually ran out as winners courtesy of a fifth straight away triumph.

“I’m disappointed. I don’t think we deserved that, the players have worked so, so hard,” Mills told BBC Radio York. “I honestly think we’ve been excellent and first half today and I was gutted to go in at 1-1 to be honest.

“It’s hard on us not to get anything out of this game today,” he continued. “I really feel that and I feel gutted for the players to be honest, because they’ve worked so hard.”
