Experienced defender Daniel Parslow was hoping for a weekend recall against Alfreton Town at Bootham Crescent.

The 32-year-old Welshman hasn’t actually started a first-team game since early December, but may be considered for a return after the latest 4-1 debacle at Curzon Ashton once again discovered major shortcomings at the back

“It was a difficult day for the boys at Curzon at the weekend losing 4-1 and you’re sat there wanting to help out,” Parslow told The Press. “I’ve been there before on the receiving end of numerous games where you don’t play as well as you should have done and it’s tough.

“I’m itching to get out there and help the boys out in the first team, but that’s the manager’s choice,” he added. “He has gone on record talking about the importance of passion, commitment and desire for the club and I base my performances on that. If that’s what he’s looking for, that will come as standard.”

Parslow skippered City’s reserves towards a 1-1 draw against Rotherham United in Central League North on Tuesday afternoon, with on loan striker Raul Correia equalising after Louis Almond had earlier missed a penalty.
