Former York City striker Diego De Girolamo has been released by National League champions Macclesfield Town.

The 22-year-old marksman scored four goals in a dozen appearances during three separate loan spells with the Minstermen, having initially arrived from Sheffield United in October 2014; notably including a strike on his debut in a 3-1 defeat at Newport County.

De Girolamo then had a similar arrangement for Northampton Town, until permanently joining Bristol City in July 2016 with a view to progressing through their development squad.

Further loans followed at both Cheltenham Town and hometown club Chesterfield, ahead of signing non-contract terms with Macclesfield in March following his departure by mutual consent from Ashton GateĀ .

The Silkmen have also released Shwan Jalal, Courtney Richards, Sam Ramsbottom, Noe Baba and Koby Arthur.
