Former York City striker Jon Parkin has been released by promoted Fleetwood Town.

Also leaving Highbury Stadium is midfielder Alan Goodall after both players appeared in last week’s play-off final victory against Burton Albion.

Parkin, 32, scored ten goals in 40 appearances last season but was more often restricted to a substitute’s role, while Goodall, also 32, has spent the past three seasons at the club and was part of two promotion-winning campaigns.

Fleetwood remain in advanced talks with several other members of their successful squad over new deals.
