Former York City striker Jon Parkin has joined Conference Premier outfit Forest Green Rovers on a one-year deal.

The 32-year-old marksman spent the past two seasons at Fleetwood Town until being released last month. He is already well-known to Rovers manager Ady Pennock following their time together at Stoke City.

Whilst at Highbury Stadium the Barnsley-born centre-forward struck 22 goals in 64 appearances – and helped them to victory in the League Two play-off final against Burton Albion in May.

Parkin has already featured for a dozen clubs since originally starting out with his hometown side.
