Former York City winger Callum Rzonca has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with Polish second-tier outfit Zagłebie Sosnowiec.

The 21-year-old therefore departs National League North rivals North Ferriby United having scored once in nineteen appearances this season.

He already has Polish roots through his grandfather, and is assigned the number ten shirt at the four-time national cup winners.

“My grandfather was Polish,” Rzonca told Zagłebie Sosnowiec FC’s official YouTube channel. “He’s passed away now. But he lived in Poland and then moved to England.

“I feel very welcome,” he added. “All my team-mates are very nice. They’ve welcomed me and I’m building some good relationships there.”

Rzonca struck once in a dozen appearances for the Minstermen until being released at the end of last season.

Meanwhile, another ex-City winger, Simon Russell, also recently left Ferriby in favour of joining Gainsborough Trinity.
