Former York City on loan centre-back George Taft is amongst six players released by League Two club Mansfield Town.

The 24-year-old one-time England youth international arrived at Bootham Crescent in August 2013 from hometown club Leicester City.

However, the 6’3″ defender was to return to his parent club after managing just three senior appearances for the Minstermen and finishing on the losing team each time.

He’s since had a spell with Burton Albion, plus a couple of loan stints at Cambridge United.

Mansfield are also allowing Rhys Bennett, Joel Byrom, Alfie Potter, Jack Thomas and Jimmy Spencer to depart Field Mill.
