Former York City striker Diego De Girolamo has joined National League leaders Macclesfield Town.

The 22-year-old arrives on non-contact terms until the end of the season with a view to earning a permanent deal going forward.

De Girolamo scored four goals in a dozen appearances for the Minstermen having begun the first of a trio of temporary stays in October 2014.

He’s since included recent spells with Bristol City and hometown club Chesterfield.

Macclesfield are currently three points clear at the top of the National League following their midweek 2-2 draw at Maidstone United.
