Frickley Athletic have continued their recent policy of recruiting former York City players with winger Connor Smith the latest to join them.

The 21-year-old was released by the Minstermen at the end of last season after scoring once in twenty-two first-team games.

He’d originally arrived at Bootham Crescent from Hartlepool United in June 2017, and also went on to include a loan period with Whitby Town before returning to his parent club.

During his time at Hartlepool, Smith had totalled nineteen senior appearances and was similarly on loan at both Whitby and Spennymoor Town.

“We are delighted to welcome Connor to the club,” manager Spencer Fearn told Frickley’s official website. “He is a very lively player, with tremendous energy and real quality. He also has great versatility, which is always a plus for us. ”

Evo-Stik League Division 1 South club Frickley have also recently brought in ex-York duo James Gray and Daniel Rowe, who were both similarly released at the end of last season.
