York City have received a massive boost with leading goalscorer Jon Parkin signing a new deal at Bootham Crescent.

The soon to be 36-year-old marksman has already equalled last season’s total of sixteen goals for the Minstermen in all competitions this time around.

He recently struck his 200th senior career goal and now remains under contract until the summer of 2019, when City are due to take residence at their new stadium.

Parkin was expected to skipper York tomorrow against Blyth Spartans in the absence of regular captain Sean Newton.
