York City Ladies striker Sophie Tinson has joined lower-ranked neighbours Harrogate Town Ladies.

The young goalscorer struck twenty-one times during an explosive debut season for the Minsterbelles’ reserves last season, including two hat-tricks and a sequence of registering in seven successive games.

That found her deservedly earning an opportunity with the first-team ahead of their latest campaign, and she started the opening fixture, a 1-0 League Cup victory against Boro Rangers early last month.

However, Tinson has now chosen to follow the route also recently taken by her ex-City team-mate Grace Foyer, and was on the bench for Harrogate’s weekend 1-0 defeat at Altofts Ladies.

Managed by former York City FC defender Jon Maloney, Harrogate have links with Sports Recruiting USA Limited, which offers players the prospect of playing in the United States.

Their ranks also currently include another one-time City front-runner in Nat Eustance.
