Former York City youth-team winger Jamie Hopcutt scored a superb late goal as Swedish minnows Ostersund shocked Turkish giants Galatasaray 2-0 in their Europa League second qualifying round first-leg tie.

The 25-year-old ex-Ossett Town and Tadcaster Albion player produced a lovely individual stoppage-time finish to add to Saman Ghoddos’ opener midway through the second-half.

Managed by former York left-back Graham Potter, Ostersund qualified for the competition after incredibly winning the Swedish Cup last season having previously dramatically risen from the third tier into the top-flight.

Hopcutt was released by the Minstermen during Gary Mills’ first spell in charge, but has since responded with 39 goals in 109 games for the Swedish club.
