York City Futsal still have relegation concerns following a late 5-4 defeat to fellow strugglers Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park.

That was despite the visitors going into an early two-goal lead and then reclaiming the advantage after the break.

But their opponents, who had won only two league games all season, went on to fight back and snatch a winner in the final minute.

Leading marksman Daniel Pedras scored a hat-trick for City to raise his overall season’s tally to fourteen, while debutant Luke Aldrich also netted.

However, Federico Fradl Peel and Ed Bryers’ ten-yard penalty saw Rovers level at the interval, before Sam McGrath struck twice during the second-half and Jordan Deer then claimed a dramatic last-minute winner.

The Minstermen now have only a three-point lead over their relegation rivals, plus a couple of games in hand, with the two clubs due to meet again at the YorkSport Arena before the end of the season.

In the other big relegation clash, Loughborough won 6-2 at bottom club London Genesis to move into ninth place and three points clear of York.

National Super League leaders London Helvecia were also victorious, 6-4 in their derby at London City, although Reading Escolla’s 7-4 success in Birmingham keeps them just two points behind and with still a game in hand.

Otherwise, Cambridge United maintained their impressive campaign as they overcame Oxford City Lions 7-2.

Weekend Results: Birmingham 4-7 Reading Escolla, Cambridge United 7-2 Oxford City Lions; London City 4-6 London Helvecia; London Genesis 2-6 Loughborough; Tranmere Rovers 5-4 York City
