Lindsay Jordan says things are going well after scoring her first senior goal for York City Ladies.

The winger was on target as the Minsterbelles defeated RACA Tynedale Ladies 4-1 in their most recent league outing, to move themselves seven points clear of the bottom two clubs in the North East Regional Premier League.

Jordan has only recently returned from an injury lay-off and feels she is making good progress after only stepping up from reserve team football this season.

“Things are going well,” she said. “Obviously we’ve only had about three or four games as I’ve just come back from injury. But I feel like it’s going really well for me.”

Having impressively netted half-a-dozen times for the reserves last term, Jordan unfortunately suffered a recurring shoulder injury during a friendly with the University of York in March.

That witnessed her requiring surgery and ruled out for the rest of the campaign; therefore disappointingly missing the County Cup final against the Belles’ own first-team the following month.

But she was rewarded for those earlier efforts when being amongst a handful of second-string players promoted into the senior squad for the start of the current season.

“The step up to the seniors was a little scary at first,” she admitted. “I only really knew people from the reserve team and felt like I had to perform really well.

“However, I feel like I’ve fit into the team quite well and I’m really enjoying my time there.”

This weekend Lindsay will get that chance of playing in the County Cup final as City Ladies bid for a record eighth trophy against Redcar Town in Stokesley.

It marks a third consecutive final for current holders York, and their eleventh in thirteen years since the competition began.
