York City Futsal achieved an absolutely crucial victory with a 3-1 triumph at bottom-of-the-table London Genesis on Sunday evening.

Tom Blackburn scored twice for the visitors, who led 2-1 at the interval, while Jamie Bettson was similarly on target.

That was the Minstermen’s first win in nine games and since comprehensively defeating the same opponents 5-0 back in November.

Results elsewhere also fell City’s way with the two other clubs directly below them in the table both losing.

Tranmere Rovers went down 6-3 at Manchester, while Loughborough were narrowly edged out 3-2 by visitors Birmingham in the ‘Midlands Clásico’.

Those scorelines leave York now six points clear of the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, it’s unchanged at the top of the table as leaders Reading Escolla won 5-2 at Oxford City Lions and nearest challengers London Helvecia comfortably overcame Cambridge United 7-2.

And FC Salisbury United triumphed 6-2 at London City as the battle for fourth place continues.

Weekend Results: London City 2-6 FC Salisbury United; London Genesis 1-3 York City; London Helvecia 7-2 Cambridge United; Loughborough 2-3 Birmingham; Manchester 6-3 Tranmere Rovers; Oxford City Lions 2-5 Reading Escolla
