York City Futsal are requesting for the city to get out and support them ahead of their crucial meeting with National Super League leaders London Helvecia at the YorkSport Arena on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 4.15pm).

The agonising concession of a last-minute goal at relegation rivals Tranmere Rovers last weekend could yet have  serious implications on the Minstermen as they continue to attempt safeguarding their own position at the top level of the domestic game.

The North Yorkshire side actually led twice at Prenton Park Hub following a hat-trick from leading goalscorer Daniel Pedras, but in the end were reflecting upon only a dramatic 5-4 defeat. Debutant Luke Aldrich also found the net for the visitors.

That left them just three points clear of their relegation rivals, although still retaining a couple of games in hand on Rovers, who are yet to visit York this season and themselves have only five matches remaining.

No such problems for Helvecia, who recently bypassed long-time leaders Reading Escolla at the top of the table, although they are only two points clear having completed a game more.

Helvecia have incredibly won their last eleven fixtures in all competitions while including a significant 10-2 success at title rivals Reading a couple of months ago.

Indeed not since going down 2-1 at home to neighbours London City before Christmas have they experienced defeat.

There are only three other league games scheduled for this weekend, with Tranmere at home to fourth-placed Birmingham and fellow strugglers London Genesis travelling to Manchester – those ties being of particular interest to York.

Meanwhile, Oxford City Lions are hosting FC Salisbury United in the other game.
