York City are to help out neighbours Harrogate Town as they attempt to overcome fixture congestion.

“Hopefully they will get some good support from our fans and people in the York area” – Sophie Hicks

The Minstermen will allow the non-leaguers to stage a Blue Square Conference North fixture against Workington at Bootham Crescent on Tuesday 5th February (kick-off 7.45pm).

It follows the Harrogate club contacting them about the possible use of their facilities. Meanwhile, York haven’t ruled out hosting a second game for them towards the end of February if the CNG Stadium pitch at Wetherby Road is still unplayable.

York’s communications director Sophie Hicks told City’s official website: “We are pleased to help our neighbours Harrogate Town tackle their fixture backlog and hopefully they will get some good support from our fans and people in the York area when they play at Bootham Crescent.”
