York City manager Gary Mills has reacted to the current poor sequence of results by snapping up Burton Albion’s midfield enforcer John McGrath on a one-month loan.

The 32-year-old was previously a target of former City boss Martin Foyle during his time in charge of the club and arrives with vast experience and more than 350 senior appearances to his credit.

He originally began his career as a trainee at Aston Villa and has also featured for Dagenham & Redbridge, Doncaster Rovers, Shrewsbury Town, Kidderminster Harriers and Tamworth, until helping Burton to the Conference title and Football League status four years ago.

McGrath goes straight into the squad to face Gillingham at Bootham Crescent tomorrow evening.
