York City manager Martin Gray has returned to former club Darlington to sign attacking midfielder David Ferguson.
The 23-year-old joined on a deal running until the end of next season and could make his debut against Brackley Town this weekend.
England ‘C’ international Ferguson previously includes over forty Football League appearances for Blackpool after earlier being with hometown club Sunderland.
Having returned to his first club from Shildon at the beginning of the current year, and while moved forward from left-back, he since responded with four goals in fourteen appearances this season – and also received his international debut in May.
The Minstermen, who paid a release clause in his contract to secure Ferguson’s services, were also expected to complete a deal for Darlington striker Mark Beck.
However, the Quakers have rejected an approach from City for their former trialist goalkeeper Adam Bartlett.
