York City are waiting to learn whether defender Ben Barber will be available for the start of the new season.
The former Stoke City left-back has missed all three friendly games so far having been sidelined with a sciatic nerve problem.
“Unfortunately, he has not had a great start with us due to injury,” manager Jackie McNamara admitted to The Press. “It’s his hamstring. He is a couple of weeks behind now and is possibly a doubt for the start of the season.”
The Minstermen are next in action when hosting Bolton Wanderers at Bootham Crescent on Saturday (kick-off 1.30pm).
