On loan York City defender Marcus Williams has been recalled by parent club Guiseley.

The 31-year-old joined the Minstermen in February with the intention of remaining at Bootham Crescent until the end of the season.

But following his debut as an early substitute in the 4-1 defeat at Curzon Ashton, the former Scunthorpe United and Sheffield United left-back hasn’t been involved.

He’s also failed to make the recent reserve games, therefore his sudden departure will come as little surprise.

Guiseley appear certain to be relegated over the next few weeks as they are currently bottom of the National League and thirteen points from immediate safety.
