York City midfielder Tom Platt prepares for Harrogate Town’s FA Cup second round replay at Hastings United tonight not knowing if he would be available for a potential visit to Championship promotion-chasers Middlesbrough in the next round.

“If we bring him back, it will be for the right reasons” – Gary Mills

Platt, 19, scored the opening goal in the first game twelve days ago as the two sides eventually finished 1-1 at the CNG Stadium – one of five he has already claimed for the Conference North outfit.

However, the on loan teenager is currently due back at Bootham Crescent ahead of any third round tie during the first week of January.

York boss Gary Mills could though still allow him an extension but stressed that would only be the case if it was in the direct interests of his own club: “It will be a decision to be made nearer the time,” he told The Press. “But if we bring him back, it will be for the right reasons and because he’s a York City player.”
