Reaction has been mixed following news that the Supporters’ Trust has rejected passing its 25% shareholding to football club chairman Jason McGill.
Had that been approved the Malton-based businessman and majority shareholder already guaranteed funding the club towards its relocation at the new community stadium next year.
One supporter likened the result as similar to Brexit while another labelled those voting against the proposal as ‘fantasists’.
However, a fellow fan urged both parties to settle their differences and work together moving forward.
Can`t argue with the result, the correct one in my opinion. I`m just waiting for the statement form McGill. Incoming in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 #ycfc

Don’t really see this as a good result? #ycfc

I think that means the end of the promotion dream this year…. uncertainty, players worried about their futures, chairman disappointed, fans loyal but confused…welcome to #ycfc

Crikey. Like everyone else, I never wanted this vote to happen. But I’m not too surprised at the outcome. I just hope Jason reflects on it and reconsiders his threat to walk away #YCFC @ycfcst https://t.co/Rib4OFJY8X

Me neither. It’s like brexit all over again. People voting to spite those in charge seemingly unaware to consequences #ycfc

Supporters trust do nothing for all these years then kill the club with one vote, wouldn’t be so bad if they had the money to put into the club #ycfc
? Garry Gibb (@GarryGibb) March 22, 2018
Now the trust should sell their 25% to i2i and let the real fun begin #ycfc
? Andy (@JumbledUpJim) March 22, 2018
Well let`s hope the Trust has the £250k a year in it`s pocket or the club be playing Sunday league

All points to a successful playoff push! Whens the first curry night? #ycfc

Well in, fellow Yorkies. Our votes matter 👊🏼 #YCFC
? James (@JamesWard80) March 22, 2018
Well that`s my club killed. I`m all for not being at the mercy of a bad owner but other than some questionable appointments McGill has done nothing wrong at his personal expense. Shortsighted by the trust that do nothing for #ycfc day to day

Well done to those at the meeting tonight who stated the case for the ‘no’ vote convincingly. Well done too to those on the ‘yes’ side who raised their points well. #YCFC

For everybody who is tolling the death knolls of the football club, if you think the Trust is so useless, put your money where your mouth is, put yourself forward and contribute. The club has been run beyond its means and failed, Jason’s money hasn’t bought success. #ycfc

The same people who believe the trust can finance the club are those who blamed Jackie for Mills` failure. Living off old dreams. Big trouble now #ycfc
? Billy (@billyycfc) March 22, 2018
I love how all the people that disagree with the no vote are all piping up now, maybe you should of paid your £10 to join the trust and put your X in the box!
Maybe the result would do been different!! #ycfc
? mark baker (@wheldrakenomad) March 22, 2018
what to the supporters trust gain from keeping their shares? i honestly dont get it. feel like something bad is around the corner now #ycfc

Polite reminder Brackley are 3rd in the Conference North on average gates of 500. For those worried less budget means we won’t be competitive, the budget was never the problem #YCFC
? JJ (@Jaytwo86) March 22, 2018
New beginnings at #ycfc time for the trust and Jason to sit down and work together. They need to sort out there differences and move forward.

I was genuinely torn on the #ycfc vote but the rubbish that came out of the club in run up to tonight swung me towards siding with no. Let’s be honest, it does McGill no favours to up sticks and leave when he is so close to getting the majority of his investment back.
