York City reserves went down 1-0 to Scunthorpe United in their behind-closed-doors friendly at Bootham Crescent on Tuesday afternoon.

The only goal arrived when Matt Godden converted a 70th minute penalty after being brought down by the home goalkeeper.
“I want to give massive credit to York City for getting the game on,” assistant manager Russ Wilcox told Scunthorpe’s official website. “They had a home game on Saturday and they covered the pitch straight away afterwards to get this game on, which was great.”
The Iron had themselves been desperately trying to arrange a friendly since early December.
Former Barnsley winger Martin Devaney and ex-Derry City striker David McDaid were both included as trialists by York, alongside Blackburn Rovers’ teenage defender Jack O’Connell.
