Burton Albion boss Gary Rowett conceded it had been a difficult game after ending York City’s unbeaten League record.

“York are an exceptionally hard working side and have gone 23 games unbeaten” – Gary Rowett

The Brewers took charge in the second-half with goals arriving from Lucas Akins and John Mousinho and keeping them top of
the table.

“It was a difficult game today and we knew it would be,” Rowett told Burton’s official website. “It was pretty tight and York are an exceptionally hard working side and have gone 23 games unbeaten.

“To beat them today shows how much we’ve come on since last season so I was very pleased with many aspects of the game,” he added. “It was always going to take a bit of good fortune or a good finish to break the deadlock, and we saw that with Lucas’ goal.”
