Manager Martin Gray faced a dilemna with his three leading strikers, Jon Parkin, Louis Almond and Alex Kempster, ruled out for the visit of title-chasing neighbours Harrogate Town to Bootham Crescent.

He could of course turn to another couple of options in the experienced James Gray and on loan Raul Correia, although they had scored only a couple of goals between them.

Meanwhile, seventeen-year-old Flynn McNaughton boasted less than thirty minutes of senior action during the preceding draw with Chorley.

Gray made his decision and selected a couple of lightweight wingers in Aidan Connolly and Connor Smith to lead the line.

Possibly for the first ever time, York had named a starting-eleven for a game without a single recognised striker being included.

City lost 2-0.
