York City striker Ryan Jarvis admits to still getting up to speed following an injury-plagued start to 2014.

“It’s hard to regain your fitness but I will get there” – Ryan Jarvis

The 27-year-old has recently returned to action after being sidelined for almost a month by ankle trouble. Jarvis has appeared as a substitute in both of the Minstermen’s last couple of games and is naturally keen to get back to add to his current nine goals for the season – the
most recent of which was the winner against Morecambe on New Year’s Day.

“It was good to get more minutes on Saturday,” the former England youth international told The Press. “I was blowing a bit when I was up there on my own but I am slowly getting my fitness back.

“I had knee, hamstring and ankle injuries one after the other. The ankle was the worst, though, because I wasn’t able to run, so I couldn’t do anything for three weeks other than biking, which was frustrating,” he continued. “It’s hard to regain your fitness but I will get there and I will keep working on it through this week to get back up and running soon.”
