The 22-year-old marksman is currently a free-agent after scoring seventeen times for League of Ireland side Derry last season and is due for talks with York manager Gary Mills on Monday. That follows a recent proposed move to their League Two rivals Fleetwood Town collapsing.
“I travel to York on Monday, with my girlfriend Fay McCafferty to see the area and hopefully I’ll finally get something sorted out early next week,” McDaid told the Londonderry Sentinel. “I have to admit that the last few months have been very annoying and I have had better Christmas, but as I have always wanted to go play in England I’m hopeful everything is going to get sorted out next week.”
The Minstermen have already recruited former Breidablik striker Ben Everson earlier this week following a spell playing in Iceland.
