York City striker Michael Coulson will take heart from the second-half-of-the-season revival at Bootham Crescent.

“I was out in the cold and I battled back” – Michael Coulson

The Minstermen surged from just above the relegation zone at the turn of the year to eventually claiming seventh place in
the table and a play-off position.

Coulson, 26, is certainly no stranger to fighting back having previously suffered three cruciate ligament injuries during his career. He had also been out of favour earlier in the campaign but finally ended it as a really key performer in the side.

“I have to take a little bit of courage from what happened this season,” Coulson told The Press. “I was out in the cold and I battled back. It is pleasing to finish the season that way.

“In the end, though, it doesn’t mean anything when you don’t win the play-offs,” he reflected. “I will be back again next season and we will see what happens then.”
