York City’s play-off hopes were virtually ended with a 1-0 defeat to ten-man Gainsborough Trinity at The Northolme.

Ashley Worsfold scored the winning goal ten minutes into the second-half following a collision between York goalkeeper Adam Bartlett and team-mate Daniel Parslow.

The hosts had earlier seen defender Brandon Fleming sent-off for a touchline challenge on Connor Brown.

The result was a third successive defeat for the visitors and witnessed them slipping outside the play-offs with just three games remaining – and with their immediate rivals still having matches in hand.
