York City slumped to their first home defeat since the turn of the year as neighbours Harrogate Town ran out as comfortable 2-0 winners at Bootham Crescent.

The Minstermen were missing a number of key players, with on loan defender Jonny Burn joining the already sidelined attacking quartet of Jon Parkin, Louis Almond, Alex Kempster and Alex Pattison.

And following a scoreless opening half that had proved evenly contested, the visitors were to make them pay when goalkeeper Adam Bartlett’s sliced clearance was promptly returned for one-time City loanee Jake Wright to drive across goal and into the far corner.

Former Darlington striker Mark Beck then added a second with a firm close-range header from a Joe Leesley free-kick.
