New goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell comes highly-recommended to the club according to manager Martin Gray.

The 20-year-old has arrived on a month’s loan from Leeds United and goes straight into the City squad for their weekend trip to Leamington.

Darlington-born Peacock-Farrell already made his Championship debut eighteen months ago and was also recently involved with the Northern Ireland national squad.

“He’s been very highly-recommended from certain people in the game that we spoke to over this last working week,” Gray told York’s official YouTube channel. “He’s a big 6ft 4ins, very, very athletic – and had a very good upbringing in the game at Middlesbrough and Leeds United.

“His all-round game has been very good but he needs some senior football now,” he added. “He’s a Northern Ireland international, so I think he’s got a massive future ahead of him. But he just needs some senior football and hopefully we can give him the opportunity of that.”
