York City midfielder Clovis Kamdjo is delighted to be finally back in competitive action.

The 27-year-old has spent well over a year on the sidelines since damaging cruciate knee ligaments during a 1-1 draw at Eastleigh in November 2016.

However, the Cameroonian enforcer finally made his playing return for the Minstermen against Boro Rangers in the North Riding Senior Cup a fortnight ago.

“It was the best thing ever after being out for such a long time,” Kamdjo admitted to York’s official YouTube channel. “Training is different. You can train and run and do all that, but playing in a game is a different thing. So it was a good forty-five minutes to run around again.

“The knee is fine now and all I keep doing is strengthening the whole leg and the muscle in and around the knee,” he continued. “The actual ligament is healed and I have no problem with the knee now. I just need to get my match fitness back and I will be fine.

“I know what I’m capable of when I’m fully fit. So for now I just want to make sure I’m right and my knee’s fine and take it from there.”
