Young midfielder Tyler Walton is delighted to get a second chance at York City.

The nineteen-year-old signed a permanent short-term deal at Bootham Crescent last week following a successful recent trial.

Walton had managed just a single substitute appearance during his first stay with the club, until being released by former boss Gary Mills last summer.

“I’m delighted [to return]. Basically what happened, I got released and went to Guiseley in pre-season and played there for a bit,” he explained to York’s official YouTube channel. “[Dave] Penney was there and I think something would have come of that.

“I ended up leaving and coming to York, and got a phone call the day before the Leeds reserve game,” Walton added. “He asked me to come play in that and from then I’ve been training.

“I lost a bit of fitness, but coming back here I can feel myself getting a lot fitter. Obviously the gaffer can see that as well. So training every day from Guiseley, which is part-time, you lose a bit of fitness but I’m back now.”
