Newcomer Sean McAllister reckons York City will progress if they reproduce their play during the later stages of the weekend FA Trophy defeat at Kidderminster Harriers.

The 30-year-old midfielder was given a delayed debut since recently arriving on a month’s loan from Grimsby Town. He would have already done that but for the previous trip to AFC Telford United being postponed.

“The most important thing is the league this year,” McAllister told York’s official YouTube channel. “Looking how we’ve finished that game [Kidderminster], there’s no reason why we can’t go and do some good things.

“I felt fine and had two reserve games [at Grimsby] before I joined here,” he added. “But obviously the game [at Telford] being called off last week was a bit gutting.

“It’s been like two-and-a-half weeks now without a game, so it’s almost like just starting again. But I felt good and fit and no problem with the groin injury.”
