Striker Louis Almond is getting back to full fitness after a lengthy period on the sidelines.

The 26-year-old summer arrival suffered a dislocated shoulder against Tamworth in October and then underwent surgery the following month.

But the former Tranmere Rovers and Southport marksman has been continuing his comeback for the reserves during the past few weeks.

“I’m getting there,” Almond told BBC Radio York. “It’s been a long time coming to be honest. But the reserve games were a massive help. I’m training every day, so I feel good.

“We’ve ten games left and I thought I was only going to get the last four or five,” he admitted. “So ten’s a massive bonus and hopefully I can get some wins and some goals.

“Obviously I just need more games and minutes and will just build from that. Hopefully I can start to get the goals now instead of the assists!”
