York City striker Louis Almond will be having surgery on his injured shoulder on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old was expected to be sidelined until March after suffering the problem during the recent 3-2 home loss to Tamworth.

Former Tranmere Rovers and Southport forward Almond has scored twice in fifteen games since coming to Bootham Crescent in the summer.

“He’s getting an operation tomorrow,” club physio Ian Gallagher told York’s official YouTube channel. “He’s done it previously when he was younger and has undone that operation, basically. He had it pinned and it’s come away.

“Also, why it’s lingered and is more serious than we thought, is that there is a fracture there as well,” he revealed. “So unfortunately it looks like he’s going to be out 3-4 months, which is a blow for Louis and for us.”
