York City manager Nigel Worthington believes his side showed exactly what they are capable of following an excellent 2-1 victory at title-hopefuls Fleetwood Town.

“I’ll reiterate that we’ve done today what we’re good at and when we do that we can get good results” – Nigel Worthington

The Minstermen were forced to stand firm after Sunderland loanee Mikael Mandron cancelled out Conor McLaughlin’s first-half own-goal. And they were ultimately rewarded in very trying conditions with a late injury-time winner from top scorer Wes Fletcher – his twelfth of the campaign.

“You’re playing against a very, very good side and to come here and take all three points is a very good achievement,” Worthington told BBC Radio York. “But I’ll reiterate that we’ve done today what we’re good at and when we do that we can get good results.

“So that’s the benchmark and in these conditions we’ve actually played some very good football,” he continued. “I was pleased with that and obviously delighted with the three points.”
