Kidderminster Harriers coach Matt Gardiner admitted his team had to be at their best to overcome a “very good” York City at Aggborough Stadium.

The hosts moved to within a single-point of their opponents courtesy of Dan Bradley’s second-half brace despite skipper Sean Newton’s eighth goal of the campaign deep into injury-time.

The Minstermen have now failed to beat their promotion rivals on three separate occasions this season, having also lost by the same 2-1 scoreline in the FA Trophy back in December.

“We are very proud of the performance and, ultimately, the result,” Gardiner told Kidderminster’s official website. “York are a very good team; you could see that and see why they are where they are and why they cause teams problems.

“We had to be at our best to get the result,” he added. “They pushed us all the way and you could see it was dangerous right until the end.”
