Dagenham & Redbridge winger Ashley Chambers admitted it had been rather “surreal” playing against his former club at the weekend.

“There is a lot of friends in there, who I have fought the cause for on another day” – Ashley Chambers

The 24-year-old was though involved in both goals as Joss Labadie earned his side
a comfortable 2-0 triumph at Victoria
Road.

“York just missed out on the play-offs last year and to win at home is obviously really important for us,” Chambers told London 24. “We need our home form to be good to get to where we want to be so we are all delighted.

“It was a little bit surreal [playing against them] because there is a lot of friends in there, who I have fought the cause for on another day,” he added. “But like I said the other day, I was fighting for Dagenham and I am glad we got the three points.”
