Former York City winger Martyn Woolford scored a vital winner at the weekend to lift Scunthorpe United out of the relegation places in the Championship.
Woolford’s 65th minute deflected strike proved enough to clinch a 2-1 victory over relegation rivals Plymouth Argyle at Glanford Park.
“I have had to put the work in to make sure I was Championship standard,” he told the Daily Express. “Our home form will see us through.”
But Woolford’s joy meant disappointment for the man keeping goal for Plymouth – former York keeper David Stockdale, who is currently on loan to Argyle from Fulham.
