York City Ladies recovered from their recent heavy defeat with a 1-1 draw against Farsley Celtic at Haxby Road.

The Minsterbelles had approached the contest having conceded ten goals at North East Regional Premier League leaders Durham Cestria last weekend.

Meanwhile, newcomers Farsley remained the only side to have taken points off the table-toppers following a narrow 1-0 home victory at the beginning of October.

And the visitors went ahead following a scoreless opening half courtesy of Danielle Sidebottom, until centre-back Laura Midgley equalised with her first goal for the club since arriving from Bradford City in the summer.

Substitute Anna Whitehead was later named as player of the game for the Belles, who were noticeably without their leading goalscorer Ellie Regan.

However, they welcomed a couple of recognised goalkeepers back into the squad in Emily Garland and Leigh Bamford – and both were to see action on this occasion.

Elsewhere, leaders Durham managed a narrow 3-2 victory at struggling Castleford White Rose. Sophie Hodgson, Molly Holder and substitute Nisha Mistry found the net for the visitors, with Lauren Breen and Rachel Sherrard replying.

But Norton & Stockton Ancients, in second, maintained their 100% record with a comprehensive 5-1 win over RACA Tynedale. Nyci Thorns scored a hat-trick with Sian Williams and Shannon Reed similarly on target.
