Former York City RTC discovery Jess Park scored twice as Manchester City Women’s Development side beat Birmingham City 3-1 in the FA WSL Development Cup final at St George’s Park on Saturday.

The sixteen-year-old moved to the reigning WSL1 winter champions last October having been captain of York’s Under-16s at the beginning of the season, and has already since appeared once for their senior team in a Continental Cup victory against Doncaster Rovers Belles.

She opened their account at the weekend with a clinical sixteenth-minute finish, before soon adding her second following a fine individual break despite initially being denied by the goalkeeper.

Esme Morgan further extended the lead in the 39th minute, although Birmingham’s Joyce pulled a goal back just before the break.

However,  England Under-17 international Park then came within inches of completing her hat-trick when hitting the post during the second-half.
