York City are being linked with a move for Hartlepool United forward Jonathan Franks.

The 27-year-old has scored six times in 21 appearances for the financially-stricken National League club since agreeing only a short-term deal last summer.

However, Stockton-born Franks is unlikely to see his contract renewed, according to the Northern Echo, and a move to Bootham Crescent is “in the pipeline”.

The former England Under-20 international began his career at Middlesbrough, and is currently in his second spell with Hartlepool.

He’s also played north of the border for Ross County, plus a couple of much earlier loans at Oxford United and Yeovil Town.

Up-for-sale Hartlepool are facing the threat of administration unless around £200,000 is raised in the next sixteen days.
