Manager Nigel Worthington celebrated a second win in four days as York City defeated latest challengers Dagenham & Redbridge 3-1 at Bootham Crescent.

“There’s plenty of work left to do to get where we would like to get to” – Nigel Worthington

Second-half goals from Ryan Bowman
and Wes Fletcher (2) maintained the Minstermen’s excellent start to the new year and earned them a rise of four
places to seventeenth in the table.

That followed on from their first success in twelve attempts against Morecambe on New Year’s Day courtesy of Ryan Jarvis’ ninth goal of the season.

“Performance-wise we’re not a million miles from where we were five days ago,” Worthington told BBC Radio York. “Results-wise, wins give you a big change in as far as the points and the league positions are concerned.

“But 28 points isn’t going to win you anything or get you anywhere so it’s got to be the full focus and concentration,” he warned. “There’s plenty of work left to do to get where we would like to get to.”

ARCHBISHOP JOHN SENTAMU [VIA TWITTER]:

“Come on York! Come on City! Come on Minster Men: 3:1! Come on City you will do it. Come on Minster Men. Keep it in their half. Fletcher thanks.

“Well done Minster Men! A Blessed New Year! 6 points in 4 days!”
